Original Text For the Artwork
Art has always been the main character in societies and communities. It spoke about class, social issues, political struggles, and more. It existed in every aspect of life, giving people a way to express themselves, especially the oppressed.Art from and for the community is the essence of art, it is the heart of conceptual art.
By utilizing art as a tool for change, each community gets to draw its own path and shape its own way of seeing. People participate in this experimental workshop/artwork/fabric/presentation whatever one may call it. It becomes a sense of community, a sense of togetherness. It brings us back to simpler, easier times like school days or summer camps when we gathered to draw as a shared activity.
Today, we gather again to draw and paint, this time as a form of resistance, a form of presence, a way of being and existing as an open dialogue that spans widely.
This project is dear to my heart. It perfectly represents my message in the art world. I’m not seeking to be displayed in grand exhibitions or museums, I want to be in your exhibition, your space, your home, anywhere that needs art. I want to make everyone part of this journey, from our oldest to our youngest.
After completing this collective painting practice, we hang the work in a place where everyone can reach it using found objects that are familiar to the eye to create a deeper, more relatable scene, a couch, a dinner table, papers, pens, paints, scissors and more. All of it becomes the installition, the artwork we all worked on together.
Look at this fabric. Choose a part. Cut it, and take it with you. That’s where its journey begins to become whatever the viewer decides it will be. For a moment, everyone becomes an artist. Everyone chooses the part that represents them, simply cuts it, and takes it to its new home maybe one day we collectivally can bring these pieces back together and see how far we have come.
From the "From and To" series, this exercise or artwork relies not only on drawing, but on all of our senses. We begin with conversation and the deconstruction of concepts, then move into the act of drawing accompanied by various elements including Palestinian songs that have influenced my artistic practice, and the questions that arise for any of the participants during this experience, opening a dialogue around everything related to art and to me as a Palestinian artist from Jerusalem.
This Edition was produced in Milan, Italy , a city where I found my identity and support in every alley and corner. It was created as part of my participation in a global gathering of creatives and cultures organized by the Moleskine Foundation, the Annual Creativity Revival 2025, representing Yabous Cultural Center and as an artist. The event took place in mid-October 2025.

مستوحاة من فلسطين، تتمحور هذه الجلسة حول قوة تَجمُّعنا وتكاتفنا كما تُعبِّر عنها وسائط الفن، وأيضًا حول مفهوم ما الذي يمكن اعتباره فنًا. إنها دعوة لكسر الجدران الأربعة للعمل الفني حتى تتمكن من أن تكون جزءًا منه. سيتم تحويل أحاديثنا العابرة، وموسيقانا، وضحكاتنا، وسكوننا إلى عمل فني دائم على قماش شبه فارغ، ليعكس من نكون، ليس فقط كأفراد، بل كجماعة تُشكّل لوحة أكبر بكثير
يُوجّه هذه الجلسة الفنان والقيّم نديم مازن من مركز يبوس الثقافي في القدس، الذي يصف الممارسة القيّمية لهذه الجلسة بأنها "بسيطة وتستحضر ذكريات الأيام المدرسية المليئة بالمرح والعفوية"، دون الحاجة إلى أي خبرة أو مهارة فنية مسبقة

Text that was used to Describe the Session:
Inspired by Palestine, this session is about the power of our togetherness as expressed through the medium of art and also about what is considered art. It is an invitation to break down the four walls of an artwork so that you can be part of it. Our ephemeral conversations, music, laughter and stillness will be transformed on a semi-blank fabric into an enduring artwork reflecting who we are, not just as individuals, but as a collective making up a much bigger picture. Guided by artist and curator, Nadeem Mazen, from Yabous Cultural Centre in Jerusalem, who describes this session’s curatorial practice as “simple and reminiscent of the fun, carefree school days” with no artistic experience or skills needed.

النص الاصلي للعمل
لطالما كان الفن هو المحرك والبطل الرئيسي في المجتمعات، يتناول الطبقات الاجتماعية، القضايا المجتمعية، القضايا السياسية وغيرها. كان حاضرًا في كل جانب من جوانب الحياة، يمنح الناس وسيلة للتعبير عن أنفسهم، خاصةً المظلومين ومن تحت الاحتلال او الاستعمار ليكون وسيلتنا الأساسية بالتعبير. الفن من وإلى المجتمع هو جوهر الفن، وهو لبّ الفن المفاهيمي والتجريبي والتفاعلي
استخدام الفن كأداة للتغيير يمنح كل مجتمع الفرصة لرسم طريقه الخاص، وطريقته الخاصة في الرؤية. يشارك الناس في هذه المساحة التجريبية سواء أُطلق عليها اسم ورشة، عمل فني، قماش، أو عرض تقديمي او حتى تجربة مهما كانت التسمية. إنها حالة من الجماعة، من التكاتف. تعيدنا هذه التجربة إلى أوقات أبسط، أسهل، كأيام المدرسة أو المخيمات الصيفية، حيث كنا نجتمع لنرسم كنوع من الأنشطة. واليوم، نجتمع لنتشارك الرسم والتلوين كأداة للمقاومة، كوسيلة للوجود، كشكل من أشكال الحياة، كحوار مفتوح واسع النطاق
هذا المشروع قريب جدًا إلى قلبي، فهو يجسد تمامًا رسالتي في عالم الفن. لا أطمح لأن أُعرض في معارض ضخمة أو متاحف كبرى، بل أطمح لأن أكون في معرضك، في مساحتك، أجعل من الجميع جزءًا من هذه الرحلة، من الأكبر سنًا حتى الأصغر
بعد أن ننتهي من ممارسة الرسم الجماعي، نعلق العمل في مكان يسهل على الجميع الوصول إليه، باستخدام أشياء معاد استخدامها و Found Objects، مألوفة بصريًا، لخلق مشهد أعمق يمكن للمشاهد أن يرتبط به. كنبة، طاولة عشاء، أوراق، أقلام، ألوان، مقصات وغيرها
انظر إلى هذا القماش. اختر جزءًا منه. قصّه وخذه معك. من هناك تبدأ رحلته ليصبح ما يقرره المشاهد. للحظة، يصبح كل شخص فنانًا. يختار كل فرد الجزء الذي يمثّله، ببساطة يقصّه ويحمله معه إلى بيته الجديد املين ان تجتمع تلك القصاصات يوما ما لتحكي قصصنا وتعرف على ما وصلنا له
من مجموعة "من وإلى"، يعتمد هذا التدريب أو العمل ليس فقط على الرسم، بل على جميع حواسنا. نبدأ بالحديث وتفكيك المفاهيم، ثم ننتقل إلى ممارسة الرسم بمرافقة عناصر متعددة، منها الأغاني الفلسطينية التي أثّرت في ممارستي الفنية، والأسئلة التي تراود أيًّا من المشاركين في هذه التجربة، لفتح حوار حول كل ما يتعلق بالفن، وما يتعلق بي كفنان فلسطيني من القدس
تم إنتاج هذا النسخة من العمل في ميلان، ايطاليا في مدينة رأيت هويتي والدعم لها في كل زقاق المدينة، ضمن مشاركتي في تجمع عاملين وثقافتين من حول العالم، مؤسسة موليسكن، تجميع الابداع السنوي 2025 كممثل لمركز يبوس الثقافي وفنان، وذلك في أواخر شهر منتصف شهر اكتوبر من عام 2025
